2014 and What a Change!

2014
It's almost March and life hasn't settled down since Christmas.  You see, we took Stephen back to Stewart Home School after Christmas and three days later they called saying he had some kind of skin problem and we needed to pick him up!  WHAT?!!!  He had just been home for a two week Christmas break and this mama was worn out and needed a little break.
(Notice his artwork on the wall.)

Stephen has been a full-time student at Stewart Home School for two years, and several summers and, needless to say, I had gotten used to the 'empty nest' and I liked it!  Hey, I'm 56 years old and have grandmother friends my age!

So, here we are, two months later and Stephen is still at home.  His skin has healed, and he didn't have a terrible disease, but having the money for his tuition was now the problem.  I think it was a God thing actually.  That the school would send him home and we would run out of tuition money about the same time.

iPad so he doesn't drive
Mom, or his classmates
crazy with the noise.)
We love SHS and are gathering the funds so Stephen can return for May through September, then come home October through April.  I think that just might have to be our schedule for a while so we can put more money in the bank.  Between tuition and investing money for Stephen's future that's a LOT of moolah!

I highly recommend Stewart Home School and I always share it with anyone I see that has a disabled child.  Check them out at http://www.stewarthome.com/.  I often describe SHS as a small private college with  a beautiful campus.  Stephen lives in a dorm, in his own private room painted the yellow color he chose.  They eat in their dorm dining room and help with the set up and clean up and are responsible for keeping their rooms tidy and beds made.

Stephen's daily schedule is a lot like a college; breakfast in the dorm then out the door to his three morning classes, back to the dorm for lunch, then off for more afternoon classes, to the dorm for dinner then evening fun of some kind.  His classes change each semester but he has taken science, math, computer skills, self-help skills, reading, exercise classes and more.

So, here's to Stephen and Stewart Home School!
